Plastic or wood coat hangers?

My wife and I are moving and have tons of plastic coat hangers that I would like to get rid of. I also have several wooden coat hangers as well. Which are better? Can any of these be recycled?
We are moving to Orlando from Portland, so are wooden hangers not a great idea due to the high humidity and termites?

I have lived in Florida my whole life. I have had both types of coat hangers and there is no problem with wooden hangers. The inside of your house will not be humid (hopefully) and termites get into wood structure through contact with the ground. I have never heard of anyone getting termites in just misc. wooden objects.

are wire hangers bad for your clothes...why? also, which is best hanger..huggable, etc?

Wire hangers can mess up some types of clothes. If you put any clothes on a wire hanger and they are damp, it can rust the hanger and transfer the rust to your clothes. Sweaters are really pliable and heavy so when hung on wire they get bumps in the sweater where the hanger was. They eventually fall out but they look bad until they do. Plastic hangers are good to me because they do not transfer rust and they are smooth so clothes do not "stick" to them. The huggable hangers are good too. But they have a covering on them that "stick" to the clothes so it is a little harder to get the clothes off. This works well for small things like spaghetti straps because they do not slip off. The best feature about the huggable type is the cascading hooks. These are great. It allows you to hang one hanger onto another onto another. This is really the best for making more room in a closet. best way to get the wrinkles out of a sportcoat ASAP for tonight?

I have a sportcoat that I need to wear to a memorial service tonight and it was drycleaned earlier this summer, so it is clean and not worn, meanwhile it got all crumpled up as it fell off the hanger and made its way into a ball with other laundry.

Try steaming it in the shower first and then toss it in the dryer on either low or fluff (no heat). Then touch it up with the iron if any wrinkles remain using the towel as a pressing cloth.
