Closet Clothes Hangers

What distance from closet shelf bottom to clothes hanging bar so hangers lift off without hitting shelf?

I just had to do this in a home.

Pretty simple really.

Measure the hanger, and allow for diff. types. The dimension of the outside radius of the hanger plus adding an inch should give you enough room to remove and replace hangers. I had the added issue of removing then reinstalling a moulding strip attached to the face of the shelves. Also, depending on the depth of a closet, I allow an inch or two behind the hanger edge and in front of certainly, for door closing.
