how to update laminate kitchen doors?

We want to update our kitchen on a really tight budget. we will be getting a new oven and redoing floor etc but we currently have old fashioned laminated doors with wooden trim on the bottom. How can we update these? paint? new doors are still too expensive. i am worried about the finish looking completely pants!!! our ideal kitchen is gloss white doors with wood worktop - again ours is a grey laminated. overall the kitchen look very dated and we want to make it more modern. we are in the uk - if anyone knows of places to buy appropriate stuff would be appreciated. we did get professionals in to quote replacing doors - came out at £2,960!!!!!!!!

does anyone know how to put a picture on here i will show you what we currently have.

i painted our kitchen doors awhile back, I used a good quality urethane paint and it was still looking good when we sold the house.
that kiind of paint is a lot tougher than regualr paint, ask at a paint shop and they will be able to advise you.
A different option but more expensive would be to buy unfinished new doors and finish them yourself, i did that once too. tiem consuming but looked like new cabinets when i was done
